Victoria Bliss--Tea Jacket

Hello Gentle Friend,

I am so excited to share some news with you. As you know, Victoria magazine will be making a comeback this November. Being a devoted fan, I pre-subscribed and have been anxiously awaiting the premier issue. As a pre-subscriber, I received a special invitation in the mail a few weeks ago to a sneak preview event, Bliss, to be held in Dallas this week-end.

After much consideration of the cost involved, I decided that I needed to go! After all, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. (Thanks, dear husband, for those encouraging words.)

I will be representing my business, of course, but that is not all. Joyce Lucas, founder of MakeMinePink, has asked me and another MMP Boutique owner, Sharon of C'est Chouette, to represent MakeMinePink at the event. We are looking forward to meeting the editor, hearing the plans for the magazine and seeing a special preview and being able to ask questions in a question and answer session.

So, what does one wear to such a special event? I think a new outfit is in order, don't you? I'm thinking that a new tea jacket and coordinating skirt would be perfect! Last Friday, I went though my patterns and fabric and began to make plans for this outfit. September calls for something fall-ish, but representing MakeMinePink calls for something pink~~a bit of a dilemma. Nothing in my stash fit the theme. I adore roses, but all of my fabrics looked like Spring and Summer, so off to the fabric store I went with nothing more than antique lace and a pink ceramic rose button (from Cindy at Angel Heart Designs) in hand for matching purposes. It took two days, but finally I found just the right fabrics.

Here is what I came up with:

After two blissful days at the sewing machine, I am happy to report that the jacket is almost completed. I thought you might like to see the process so I snapped some pictures as I went.
The outer jacket with lace attached

The lining~~ ready to stitch to outer jacket

Pocket and some of the ties

I will put the finishing touches on this afternoon and I'll post more pics tomorrow.

And now for another bit of news...The drawing for Friday's contest (see Friday's blog entry) was held this morning. The winner of the Tea Table Mini Teapot is Amy at Bunny Rose Cottage. Congratulations, Amy!

For those who would be interested, I do have another Tea Table Mini Teapot for sale in my shop. http://www.SweetNecessi-Teas.com/

Have a blissful Monday!

Karen, Isn't it wonderful to have Victoria Magazine to look forward to again? I too received an invitation but do not travel much and would have had to go alone so I decided to stay home and create while I anxiously await the issue of Victoria. Your jacket looks lovely, I hope you had a grand time.
