Pink Friday at Make Mine Pink--Down the Garden Path

Welcome to my Garden Tea Party! I am so glad you were able to come. It's still cool out and a breeze is blowing. Would you like some tea? In a bit, I'll pour it and let everybody sample the treats. Would you like to sit down over here in the shade? I thought the children would like to sit on the quilts and we would take the chairs.

Oh, the tea set? Yes, it is unusual. It is from Portugal--all handpainted. It was made by Bordallo Pinheiro Pottery. Did you see the little bunnies? I thought it would make the perfect set for a Garden Party. And the best thing is that it has the little tea cup sets for children. Aren't they cute? I love majolica. The glaze is so beautiful! And, you know pink is my favorite color!

Would you like something to eat? I have some Driscoll strawberries, sweet scones, chocolate -dipped coconut macaroons, and chocolate fudge cheesecake. Yes, I know it is decadent, but this is a special occasion. I am getting to visit my dear friends!

How about some tea? I have a Strawberry Tisane or Darjeeling. Would you like milk or sugar?

The table covering? The bottom layer is washable linen--a banquet size. It is topped with a vintage 48" square hand-embroidered tablecloth--just to add romance and a little color. Look at the baskets on each corner...and the crocheted edging. Yes, the napkins are vintage handkerchief linen. I love the feel of linen and it will bleach well, so I don't worry about using them. The spoons? Oh, yes, aren't the teapot handles just adorable? I thought so, too!

The apron? It is modeled after my grandmother's wedding trousseau apron. Her best friend made it and she cherished it so. She passed it down to me when I was a teenager. I copied the style and added the teapot applique. She would have loved it...
No, I didn't make the hat. It was a gift from a friend. I thought it would make a great centerpiece. What do you think?

Would you like more tea? Let me help you...

Oh, I'm so glad you came. This has been such fun--chatting and catching up on everything. We must not wait so long between visits. Let's do this again next month!
